Changing a drive letter send away cause problems. E.g., if you've got a cutoff that points to a curriculum installed on E:, and you change drive E: to F:, the shortcut leave not work.

To change a drive letter, click Start or go to Windows 8's Lookup charm. Type partitions (don't miss that s ), and choice Create and data format fixed disk partitions.

In the resulting Disk Direction program, right-click the drive or partition you desire to change, and select Change Drive Missive and Paths.

In the next dialog box, click Change.

This brings up yet some other dialog box. Prime an available drive alphabetic character and click OK.

A subject matter box will pop up, warning you nigh the problems I discussed above. What you perform here is ascending to you.

Connected the other hand, changing a drive name is harmless and easy. In Windows 7 or Vista, click Start>Computer. In Windows 8, undecided Register Explorer, and in the left pane, find and select This Microcomputer.

Once at that place, either urge on F2, or right-click and superior Rename.
